WKM Special Education Database

Overview

The WKM Special Education Database (WSED) is in its 8th version dating back 15 + years.  It is the author’s goal to provide the user the means to keep records and print necessary documents, including IEPs, by providing an intuitive interface to a database that contains 13 tables and 244 fields.  This version is an update of versions specifically designed for Charter Schools.

WSED requires Microsoft Windows, version XP or newer, on a PC or MAC.  It also requires Microsoft Word installed on the computer.  Having Microsoft Access on the system, while not required, provides a means for the user to view, query, and use data in the database.  WARNING: Changing field names, types or parameters can damage the integrity of the program.  Editing some data manually may also cause unexpected results in the program.

Except for Bookmarks, the Word documents may be freely edited to fit the individual school’s needs.  Bookmarks are used by the program to enter data into the documents and may not be altered or deleted.

Note:  The program started in a large urban system of 900 special education students and has evolved to its current version used in a number of charter schools.  Although every effort has been made to eliminate bugs, users may find methods using the program in ways that were not anticipated.  If problems are found, please contact the author.  Corrections will be made within a target of 48 hours.  Feedback is welcomed!  Contact WKM Associates by contacting:
